Richmond Wins Third-Straight, Defeats Fordham 78-68

BRONX, N.Y. - Sophomore Kevin Anderson scored 18 points and junior David Gonzalvez had 17 to lead Richmond to a 78-68 win over Fordham, the Spiders' third-straight win and fourth victory in the last five games.
The Spiders led by as many as 16 and Fordham never got closer than nine in the game's final 23 minutes. Richmond improved to 15-13 overall and 7-6 in the Atlantic 10.
Anderson, the Atlantic 10 Player of the Week, has scored at least 18 points in the last four games. He also grabbed six rebounds and had two steals. Gonzalvez made 6-of-12 field goals and his 17 points moved him past Picot Frazier (1967-70) and into 28th on the Richmond all-time scoring list with 1,090 points.
Sophomore Justin Harper scored 14 points, while junior Ryan Butler had eight points, five rebounds and four steals. Sophomore Francis-Cedric Martel had seven points, while senior Jarhon Giddings and red-shirt freshman Josh Duinker each scored six points.
Richmond forced a Fordham team that led the Atlantic 10 in fewest turnovers per game into 17 turnovers. The Spiders had nine steals and turned the ball over 13 times, just above their season average of 12.5.
The Spiders made eight three-pointers, the most threes Richmond has hit since making eight in a win at Saint Louis on Jan. 25.
Mike Moore scored 25 points to lead Fordham (3-22, 1-12 Atlantic 10). Jio Fontan had 18 points.
