
Women's Tennis Falls to No. 51 Virginia Tech

BLACKSBURG, Va. -
The women's tennis team (10-3) fell to No. 51 Virginia Tech, 5-2 Wednesday afternoon in Blacksburg. The Spiders return to action Friday at home versus Xavier.
The Hokies swept the doubles point, with Jessica Brouwer/Holly Johnson defeating No. 1 Pamela Duran/Erin Clark, 8-5. Virginia Tech's Inga Beermann/Blakely defeated Ashlee Vosters/Kelly Tidwell, 8-5 while No. 3 Helen Cunningham/Isabel Arana fell in the No. 3 slot.
Richmond got on the board in singles play with two wins at the No. 4 and No. 5 spot. Cunningham defeated Yasmin Hamza, 6-2, 6-2 while Joanna Matuszczyk cruised past Johnson, 7-5, 6-4.
The Spiders face Xavier at home on Friday. The match is set for 2:00 p.m.
