COLLEGE STATION, Texas - Richmond senior Lauren Beaudreau swam the first of three events at the 2009 NCAA Swimming & Diving National Championship Thursday night, finishing 21st in the 200 IM in school record time. She continues at the Championship, hosted by Texas A&M, Friday with the 400 IM.
Although smashing the school record she previously held by two seconds with a time of 1:58.10 in the preliminaries, Beaudreau missed the finals cut by four-tenths of a second. The time placed her 21st overall. Entering the Championship, Beaudreau was ranked 51st out of the 59 swimmers in the event.
Making her third career appearance at the National Championship event, the Lafayette, Calif. native is lone women's swimmer from the A-10 at the 2009 event.
On Beaudreau's docket for Friday is the 400 IM (seeded 22nd of 49). She'll conclude her meet on Saturday with the 200 breast (seeded 27th of 53).
