FOOTBALL.com (by Jeff Glatzer) - Ever see a spider leap from its web? That's what it is like watching Lawrence Sidbury play defensive end. This quick-twitch athlete is lethal off the defensive edge with an explosive first step.
This is a football player that didn't begin to play football until his freshman year at Oxon Hill in high school in Maryland. Four years later in 2008, his last year at the University of Richmond, he was voted as one of four team captains for the Spiders.
Throughout his career at Richmond, there were multiple changes in the position coaches for Sidbury to rely on, so he showed amazing adaptability in learning different teaching styles. Sidbury blossomed under the tutelage of position coach Jeff Hanson this past season.
Used primarily as a hand in the dirt defensive end, Sidbury showed speed and quickness off the edge. His ability to employ multiple pass rush moves to successfully get to the quarterback were impressive.
