UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. -
Freshman Caitlin Fifield was named Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week for the first time this season. Fifield led Richmond with a team-high four goals in each of its wins this weekend.
"Caitlin has stepped up into a huge role on our attack this year," said assistant coach Allison Nuzzi. "She works hard off ball to get open and knows how to finish. Her team sees her as a reliable force and she has proven herself as such day in and day out. She knows how important the Atlantic 10 games are and I know she will do great things for this team in the future."
Fifield, a North Babylon, N.Y. native, scored a career-best four goals in a 17-15 win over St. Bonaventure Friday. Fifield followed with another four-goal performance in a 14-13 overtime win over the visiting Duquesne Dukes Sunday.
Fifield leads the Spiders in draw controls (36) and ground balls (19) and is third on the team in goals scored (20).
The Spiders travel to UMass and Temple this weekend.
