PHILADELPHIA, Pa. -
The second-seeded Spiders (6-11, 5-2) will face No. 3 Saint Joseph's (9-7, 5-2) Friday at 3:30 p.m. at Geasey Field in Philadelphia, Pa. Richmond dominated the Hawks last Sunday in a convincing 12-5 win on Senior Day.
The Spiders are led by Atlantic 10 Co-Offensive Player of the Year, senior Allison Furstenburg. Furstenburg leads the Spiders in goals, assists and points. The two-time Atlantic 10 Player of the Week led the Spiders with four goals in last week's victory over Saint Joseph's.
"We are very excited to be heading to Philadelphia this weekend to compete in the Atlantic 10 tournament as the #2 seed," said coach Allison Nuzzi. "I feel that the team is in a great place right now in the season. One of our goals set at the beginning of the season was to bring back the Atlantic 10 title and that is what we are setting out to do this weekend."
Richmond enters Friday's game a perfect 9-0 versus Saint Joseph's. Richmond has won four straight and looks for its fourth A-10 title in the last five years.
"We have been working tirelessly preparing for this all season long," said Nuzzi. "With strong senior leadership and valuable playing experience from our underclassmen, I feel confident that we will show well."
Should the Spiders advance, they would face the winner of UMass/George Washington Sunday at 1 p.m.
