
Friend, Furstenburg Named To VaSID All-State Second Team

Recent graduates Mandy Friend and Allison Furstenburg were named to the 2009 VaSID All-State second team. Friend earned VaSID team honors all four years as a Spider, while Furstenburg garnered VaSID recognition three years in a row.
Friend, a Canandaigua native, ended her career at Richmond as the all-time leading scorer with 250 goals. Friend was selected to the Atlantic 10 All-Conference first team every year she was a Spider, and was a three-time All-American.
Friend was a two-time A-10 Midfielder of the Year and was selected as the 2009 Atlantic 10 Student-Athlete of the Year.
Furstenburg, a Whitehouse Station, N.J. native, ended her senior campaign as the Spiders' top scorer with 51 goals. Furstenburg also dished a team-best 26 assists and took a team-high 103 shots. Furstenburg was a two-time Atlantic 10 Offensive Player of the Year and joined Friend on the 2009 A-10 All Conference first team.
Furstenburg scored in every game this season, including 13 multi-goal games, with 11 hat tricks. Furstenburg was also named Atlantic 10 Player of the Week twice.
