UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. - Former Spider women's cross country standouts Josephine White and Jessica Space have been named to the Colonial Athletic Association's Silver Anniversary Team, which was announced recently.
White, a native of England, ran for the Spiders in the early 1980s, winning the individual title at the 1985 CAA Cross Country Championship by 56 seconds. In 1984, she was the individual champion at the ECAC South Championship (17:51).
White also reigned supreme on the track for Richmond as a three-time All-American - and one of the school's first individual National Champions by taking the NCAA's 1,000m Indoor title in 1981.
A northern Virginia native, Space was selected as the CAA Cross Country Athlete of the Year in 1986 as she captured the individual title at the 1986 CAA Cross Country Championship (18:10). The year prior, she earned All-CAA honors after placing eighth at the conference championship.
The Spiders were members of the CAA from the league's inception in 1982-83 through 2000-01, when they joined the Atlantic 10 Conference.
