UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. - Sophomore Katelin Peterson had a hat trick, including two goals in the game's opening three minutes as the Richmond field hockey team defeated Monmouth 7-0 Saturday at Crenshaw Field.
Peterson scored two goals in the opening 2:10 and the Spiders (3-4) were never challenged, giving up only two shots to the Hawks (3-4).
Junior Hannah Hess scored two goals, while senior Sarah Blyth-Wood scored her Atlantic 10-leading eighth goal and had an assist. Senior Adrian Pickar also scored a goal, while junior Dani Pycroft and senior Megan Thompson had assists.
Richmond out-shot Monmouth 26-2. Spider senior goalkeeper Jacki Raithel made one save in net.
