UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. -
The Richmond women's soccer team fell to the Fordham Rams, 3-0 Friday night at Ukrop Park. Senior forward Kristen Stalter led the Spiders with five shots.
Fordham scored eight minutes into the contest after Michelle Ancelj notched a cross pass from Danielle Ingram past Richmond goalkeeper Andrea Young.
"We came out flat in the first 15 minutes of the game," said head coach Peter Albright. "We had better chances at scoring once the game progressed, but we weren't lucky enough to connect on any attempts."
Fordham struck again in the 56 minute when Mariella Romano scored from a cross pass. The Rams put the game out of reach when Katie McDermott headed the ball in from close range to give Fordham the 3-0 advantage.
Richmond edged Fordham in corner kicks by a 7-6 margin. Young collected a game-high seven saves in the net.
The Spiders travel to La Salle Sunday for their first conference road game. Kick-off is slated for 1:00 p.m.
