UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND - The University of Richmond women's swimming team returns to action tonight following the holiday break, hosting rival William & Mary at the Robins Center pool. The meet starts at 5 p.m. with Senior Day ceremonies before the first event.
The meet also marks Senior Day for the Spiders, with Katie Sieben and Alex Helland being honored before their last home meet.
The Spiders are coming off the annual training trip to Florida, after a competitive early-portion of the schedule that featured meets versus North Carolina State, Villanova, a win over A-10 rival La Salle and a seventh-place finish at the Terrapin Cup.
Sieben garnered his ninth career A-10 weekly award before the break (Nov. 26) and her second this season after posting five top-four finishes at the Terrapin Cup.
The Seymour, Conn. native finished fourth or better in five of the six events she swam at the Terrapin Cup, including a gold-medal performance in the 100 fly (54.15). She was third in the 200 medley relay (1:43.53), third in the 400 medley relay (3:48.77), fourth in the 50 free (23.45) and fourth in the 200 free relay (1:35.47), while adding a sixth-place finish in the 100 free (51.34).
Following Friday's meet, Richmond makes its second-consecutive appearance in the College Conference Carnival next weekend at Rutgers, then battles James Madison in Harrisonburg (Jan. 31) to conclude the regular-season slate.
