The Team:
Richmond posted numerous season-highs in the win over GW including: points in the paint (42), points off turnovers (23), fast break points (24) and bench points (36).
Richmond dished a season-best 24 assists, which is only four shy of a school record. (28 assists vs. UNC Wilmington, 2/10/86).
Four Spiders scored in double-figures in the same game for the first time this season.
Richmond recorded its third straight win over George Washington, which stands as the longest winning streak in the series for the Spiders.
The 29-point margin of victory was the Spiders' second largest in the series. Richmond previously bested the Colonials 79-48 on Nov. 23, 1982 to stand as the biggest win in the series.
The Players:
Junior Brittani Shells notched her fifth straight game-high performance and 11th on the season with 16 points. Shells has scored in double-figures in every game this season.
Shells has led Richmond in scoring in every game this season, and currently leads the team and A-10 at 18.4 ppg.
Joyous Tharrington posted back-to-back career performances in the wins over UMass and GW. Tharrington scored 13 points apiece in these victories and is a combined 11-for-22 in this span. Tharrington is also averaging 8.0 rebounds in these two games.
Kara Powell dished a season-best seven assists. The seven assists stands as a Spider season-high. Powell recorded two nine assists performances her sophomore season.
