Postgame Notes from George Washington

The Team:
• Richmond posted numerous season-highs in the win over GW including: points in the paint (42), points off turnovers (23), fast break points (24) and bench points (36).
• Richmond dished a season-best 24 assists, which is only four shy of a school record. (28 assists vs. UNC Wilmington, 2/10/86).
• Four Spiders scored in double-figures in the same game for the first time this season.
• Richmond recorded its third straight win over George Washington, which stands as the longest winning streak in the series for the Spiders.
• The 29-point margin of victory was the Spiders' second largest in the series. Richmond previously bested the Colonials 79-48 on Nov. 23, 1982 to stand as the biggest win in the series.
The Players:
• Junior Brittani Shells notched her fifth straight game-high performance and 11th on the season with 16 points. Shells has scored in double-figures in every game this season.
• Shells has led Richmond in scoring in every game this season, and currently leads the team and A-10 at 18.4 ppg.
• Joyous Tharrington posted back-to-back career performances in the wins over UMass and GW. Tharrington scored 13 points apiece in these victories and is a combined 11-for-22 in this span. Tharrington is also averaging 8.0 rebounds in these two games.
• Kara Powell dished a season-best seven assists. The seven assists stands as a Spider season-high. Powell recorded two nine assists performances her sophomore season.
