Women's Basketball Hosts Duquesne Saturday At 4:30 P.M.

The Richmond women's basketball team (14-6, 3-2) hosts the Duquesne Dukes (14-6, 4-1) Saturday at 4:30 p.m. in the second part of a doubleheader with the men's team.
Of Note:
Richmond fell to Charlotte in a rematch of last year's A-10 title game, 60-46 Tuesday night at Halton Arena.
The loss dropped the Spiders to 14-6 overall and 3-2 in league action.
The back-to-back losses at Dayton and Charlotte marks the first time the Spiders have dropped back-to-back games since last season. (loss to Charlotte, 1/27/09 followed by loss at Duquesne, 2/1/09). Richmond rebounded after the losses, going on to win the next three of four games.
Joyous Tharrington and Katie Holzer both grabbed a team-high seven rebounds.
Shells continues to lead the Spiders and the A-10 at 17.3 ppg and 3.0 steals per game. Shells is averaging 16.0 ppg and shooting 41 percent from the field in conference action. Shells is currently in seventh place (1,263 points) on Richmond's all-time scoirng list. Shells is already in seventh place for career steals and only needs nine grabs to move into sixth place.
The Spiders are shooting 40 percent from the field and dishing 14 assists per game in conference play. Richmond leads the league with 12 steals per game versus Atlantic 10 foes.
The Series:
Although the Dukes have won three straight in the series, Richmond holds a 8-4 advantage all-time.
Richmond's last win against the Dukes came in the Robins Center in 2006. The Spiders are 5-1 against the Dukes at the Robins Center. Richmond won nine of the first 10 games in the series. Richmond's only overtime game of the 2008-09 season was a 59-55 overtime loss to Duquesne last February in Pittsburgh.
Brittani Shells sat out last year's match-up with Duquesne due to a hand injury she sustained at the practice prior to the game.
