ST. LOUIS, Mo. - Four different Spiders scored goals as Richmond defeated Saint Louis 4-0 on Friday.
Senior Christin Hanley, freshman Chelsea Davies, junior Katelin Peterson and senior Sara Reese scored as the Spiders improved to 1-1 in Atlantic 10 play.
The game was scoreless until the final minute of the first half, when Hanley scored her third goal of the season and fifth of her career on an assist from freshman Christina Amorose. The goal proved to be Hanley's first game-winning goal of her career.
Freshman Chelsea Davies scored her second goal of the season in the 49th minute off a rebound of a clearing pass.
Junior Katelin Peterson converted a penalty stroke with 18:43 remaining for her sixth goal of the season and 31st of her career. Peterson is now tied for eighth in career goals with 2010 graduate Megan Thompson, four goals behind Amy Kingsberg (1989-92), who has 35. Peterson has 76 career points, which ranks 10th on the Spiders' all-time career list, two points behind Kingsberg for ninth.
Senior Sara Reese finished the scoring with her third-career goal with 3:12 remaining off an assist from senior Tori Whitcher.
Richmond plays Massachusetts on Sunday at noon in a rematch of the Atlantic 10 semifinals last fall.
