CHARLOTTE, N.C. -
The 49ers tallied a goal in the 56th minute to clip the Spiders, 1-0, Sunday afternoon in Charlotte, N.C. Melissa Pacheco recorded a game-high seven saves in the net.
"The team played extremely well in the second half," said head coach Peter Albright. "After the goal was scored, I thought we came back and created a number of good chances to tie. You have to credit Charlotte, as they are very mature, experienced team that plays well. We looked forward to playing this team, and we're excited that we may get the chance to play them again. The player of the game was Emily Parisi. She played a really smart, composed game and won a lot of balls for us. She did an excellent job for us."
The lone tally of the game came at the 56:06 mark when Charlotte's Brooke Malloy scored off an assist from Oni Bernard.
Becca Wann led all Spiders with three shots. Richmond won the corner category, 6-5. The Spiders return to action next Friday at La Salle at 7:00 p.m.
