UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND - The A-10 Conference announced redshirt-senior Matt Llano the Men's Performer of the Week following his 21st-place finish at the ISU Pre-Nationals Invitational on Oct. 16.
The Arnold, Md. native finished 21st out of 231 runners with a time of 24:04.9 in the men's blue 8K race. Llano was the top A-10 performer of the meet, and his impressive performance helped the Spiders finish 16th overall, defeating NCAA-ranked UTEP (40th in the NCAA) and Michigan State (20th).
Prior to redshirting the 2009-2010 season, Llano racked up numerous honors in both the Atlantic 10 Conference and the NCAA. In 2008 alone, Llano was named an Atlantic 10 All-Conference performer, Atlantic 10 Championship runner-up, and 2008 Atlantic 10 Cross Country Student-Athlete of the Year. Following a seventh-place finish at the NCAA Southeast Regional Championship, Llano qualified for the NCAA National Championship. Matt Llano was the first Spider in 29 years to reach the NCAA Cross Country National Championship where he finished 176th overall in the 10K. For more information on Matt Llano, check out his bio.
