UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. -
Becca Wann delivered again for the Spiders, but Temple answered with a late goal to force a 1-1 double overtime tie Sunday afternoon at Ukrop Park.
Richmond came out the agressor, notching 10 first-half shots. Wann got her team-leading seventh goal in the 35th minute by way of a header after a nicely placed cross pass from freshman Crystal Koczot.
The Spiders held the tempo for much of the second half, until Temple found its opening. The Owls' Niki Conn knotted the score at 1-all after connecting on a pass from Kate Yurkovic in the game's 73rd minute.
Temple broke free for what looked to be an open look at the game-winner but Richmond's Lindsay Wicher dived in front of the goal to preserve the tie. The Spiders had their chance to seal the victory with just under seven to play when Kristin Lescalleet drilled a free kick to an open Wann who headed the ball into the goal. The score was taken away due to a Richmond offsides.
Much like Friday, the first extra period was all Richmond, as the Spiders notched six shots, but none resulted in a goal. Temple only mustered two shots in the extra 20 minutes of play.
The Spiders recorded a season-high 29 shots, with Natalie LeClair leading the charge with six. Wann followed with four.
Goalkeeper Melissa Pacheco played another solid game between the pipes, recording seven saves. Pacheco made a game-saving keep in the second overtime that again thwarted Temple's game-winning attempt.
Richmond concludes its six game home stand with a doubleheader with the men's team Saturday against GW Saturday at 4:30 p.m. at Ukrop Park.
