On Brittani's play:
"I am proud of Brittani. She started off her senior season with a sense of purpose. She wants to help lead this team to the NCAA tournament and she played like it. Her 34 points were quiet, in the sense that she took what was given to her. I felt like she did a very good job of reading the defense and finding the openings. I was also pleased to see her going to the basket, consequently getting to the free throw line- that is something she worked hard at doing in the off season. She was a lot of fun to watch tonight."
On the team's play:
"I felt like we came out and played with great energy and enthusiasm. Western Carolina is a much improved basketball team from last season. We were able to get a lot of people in for their first games, particularly in the 1st half. We played 32 minutes of very good basketball. We were in a great rhythm on defense and transition, which led to some very good play. We relaxed for a time in the 2nd half, especially on the defensive end and Western Carolina made us pay. We started fouling because we were out of position and it took us out of the rhythm of the game. I was proud of our ladies for fighting the adversity and answering the challenge, particularly on the road. We have to do a better job of defending aggressively without fouling, but I believe that will happen sooner than later. Overall, it was a good start to the season."
