UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. -
Head coach Stephy Samaras announced the naming of All Conference selections Bria Eulitt and Mary Flowers as captains to the 2011 lacrosse squad.
"Bria and Mary were voted captains by the team and I feel that speak volumes. I think they will do a great job. Both have so much passion for the game and their teammates. They balance each other out both on and off the field. They have set goals and will stop at nothing to see the team reach those goals."
Flowers was named the 2010 Atlantic 10 Midfielder of the Year after notching a team-leading 55 goals, which ranked third all-time on Richmond's single-season scoring list. Flowers also led the Spiders in points (65), ground balls (68), draw controls (59) and caused turnovers (39).
Flowers ended the season ranked second in the nation in ground balls (3.75 a game) and sixth in the country in caused turnovers (2.15 a game). Flowers ended her season with 15 multi-goal games, 13 of which were hat trick performances or better.
The Virginia Beach native was also recognized as a third team All-American by Women'sLacrosse.com. Additionally, Flowers was named to the All Conference first team and All Tournament team.
Eulitt earned A-10 first team honors after recording 39 ground balls and causing 19 turnovers, which rank second to Flowers. Eulitt recorded multiple ground balls in 11 games this season, including a career-best six against fifth-ranked North Carolina.
