Martin Parker Named To Walter Camp FCS All-America Team

UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND - One week after earning All-America honors from the AFCA, Richmond senior DL Martin Parker was recognized on the Walter Camp FCS All-America squad that was announced Tuesday. Parker is the third Spider in four years and sixth all-time to earn a spot on the team.
The 26-player team was selected by the head coaches and sports information directors of the Football Championship Subdivision schools and certified by the accounting and auditing firm, Marcum LLP.
Parker, an AFCA All-America pick, a finalist for the Buck Buchanan Award and a First Team All-CAA Football selection, led all CAA Football defensive linemen in tackles (8.7 per game) and was second overall in the league in total sacks (5.5) and total TFL (13.5) this year. He posted five double-digit tackle games, including 13 versus Delaware and 12 versus Towson. The New Haven, Conn. native, who was a Second Team All-CAA Football pick in 2009, also blocked a PAT attempt in the Delaware game.
Richmond's previous selections to the Walter Camp All-America Team have been: Matt McCracken, OL (2009), Tim Hightower, RB (2007), Marc Megna, DL (1998), Eric Johnson, LB (1992) and Jeff Nixon, DB (1978)
Still to be announced are All-America squads from the Associated Press, the Sports Network and the College Sporting News.
