PARADISE ISLAND, BAHAMAS- The Spiders fought through foul trouble to hang close with Georgia Tech on Saturday night, but ultimately fell short to the Yellow Jackets in the Battle at Atlantis, 67-54.
The Spiders, who entered the game shooting 51.3 percent from the field, connected on a season low 39.2 percent on Saturday. The Spiders were out-shot at the foul line 29-10.
Justin Harper led Richmond with 15 points, while Kevin Anderson and Darien Brothers chipped in with 12 and 10 points, respectively.
Freshman Cedrick Lindsay scored six points, making all three field goal attempts and fellow freshman Derrick Williams played well off the bench five points and two rebounds in eight minutes.
Despite three early first half fouls on Anderson, Richmond only trailed by one at the half. The Spiders took a two-point lead with 14 minutes to go in the game, but were never able to get into a good rhythm on offense, and the Yellow Jackets made some tough shots to keep the Spiders at bay.
With his 12 points, Anderson moved into fourth on Richmond's all-time scoring list with 1,735 points, passing former teammate David Gonzalvez (1,727).
Richmond (8-3) returns to action on the road against UNC-Greensboro on Wednesday at noon.
