Richmond Plays At Towson Tonight At 7 P.M.

The Spiders (7-4), winners of three in a row, play the Towson Tigers (5-4) tonight at 7:00 p.m. at the Towson Center in their last game before the holiday break.
The Latest:
Richmond (7-4) used timely long range shots in the last minutes to keep pesky William & Mary (1-8) at bay, 69-59, Monday night at Kaplan Arena. Brittani Shells paced the Spiders with another game-high 19-point gem.
Shells recorded her eighth game-high performance and eighth double-figure performance this season with 19 pts vs. William & Mary. Shells also tied a career-high with five assists.
Goring had another impressive outing, recording her first double-double of the season with 10 points and a team-high 15 boards. Goring previously pulled down a career-best 17 boards in the win over ODU.
Shells was cool in the clutch during the Tribe runs, going 6-for-10 from the field and 4-of-5 from long range. Shells recorded five assists and grabbed three steals. Abby Oliver made key long range shots down the stretch, going 5-for-10 from the field, including 2-of-5 behind the arc for 16 points. Oliver also recorded a career-best five assists.
The Spiders tied a season-high with 17 assists and committed a season-low 12 turnovers in the win over the Tribe.
Richmond moved to 87-22 in the series with William and Mary and have won the past four. The rivalry dates back to 1920 and is thought to be the nation's second oldest rivalry behind Stanford and California.
Shells, the nation's 12th leading scorer, is averaging 21.0 ppg and is currently fourth on Richmond's all-time scoring list. Shells has moved two spots on Richmond's all-time list after pouring in a team-best 232 point thus far.
Richmond remained a spotless 3-0 aganist CAA foes and plays its fourth-consecutive in Towson Wednesday night. The Spiders are beating CAA opponents by an average of 15.7 ppg.
The Series:
Richmond owns a 6-4 edge in the series with Towson and enjoyed a series' long winning streak of three games in the 1988 season. The Spiders' last win in 1994 was the largest of the series. Richmond is 5-1 at home against the Tigers but 1-3 at Towson Center. Richmond's last win at Towson was Jan. 15, 1990.
Richmond takes a 3-1 December mark into the game with Towson, with the only loss coming at then No. 12 Georgetown, 65-64 Dec. 1. The Spiders are beating December foes by 12.0 ppg. Richmond enjoyed its largest win this month over CAA power Old Dominion by a head-turning 22 points.
