Women's Lacrosse Overtaken By No. 4 North Carolina

The Richmond women's lacrosse team was overtaken by the fourth-ranked Tarheels, 19-7 Sunday afternoon at Crenshaw Field.
The Spiders jumped out to a 2-0 lead thanks to unassisted goals from freshman Gabi Wiegand and sophomore Mary Flowers. Richmond then went up 4-2 after a Kara Moschetti goal and another Flowers goal off a Wiegand feed.
The Tarheel offense responded with a flurry of goals--scoring eight unaswered to lead at the half, 10-4.
North Carolina would tack on two more goals within the first two minutes of the second half to take a 12-4 lead with 27 minutes remaining.
Moschetti recorded another tally before another onslaught of Tarheel goals. North Carolina followed up Moschetti's score with seven consecutive goals.
Richmond closed the game scoring the last two goals. Flowers converted a Julianne Nicola pass and Anne Ryan scored unassisted.
Flowers ended her day with a hat trick and Moschetti followed with two goals. Wiegand and Nicola each recorded an assist.
The Spiders travel to #10 UVA Wednesday for a 7:00 p.m. game.
