AMBLER, Pa. - The Spiders built a 9-5 lead, only to watch Temple rally for four runs in the eighth and two in the ninth to beat Richmond, 11-10, in Saturday's nightcap to win the series with its second walk-off victory of the weekend.
Chris Cowell and Robby Massar each delivered three hits for Richmond in the second game as the Spiders built on their lead. Cowell finished with five hits including a homer, and four RBI in the Saturday twinbill.
Junior Billy Barber, who had not pitched in two weeks (shoulder), was tagged his first loss of the year (3-1). Barber entered the game with his team leading 10-9 in the ninth, but allowed a one-out single to David Hall, followed by a two-out triple from Jabair Khan that tied the game.
Adrian Perez dealt the winning blow with his walk-off RBI single. Perez's walk-off single won Friday's game for Temple as well.
Richmond (18-20, 5-10) returns to action next weekend at Pitt Field for a three-game Atlantic 10 series against Saint Joseph's. The first game is Friday with first pitch scheduled for 3 p.m.
