UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. -
Senior Erin Clark was recently named the Atlantic region recipient of the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Cissy Leary Award for Sportsmanship.
Clark, a two-time A-10 Student Athlete of the Year and three-time All Conference first team selection, led Richmond at No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles this season. The Vienna, Va. native earned a 3.96 GPA at Richmond after double majoring in French and English.
Clark was named A-10 Player of the Week after downing #73 Martha Blakely of Virginia Tech. Clark led the Spiders to back-to-back A-10 titles, and a return trip to the NCAA Championships.
Clark is the second Spider in as many years to receive a Sportsmanship award from the ITA. Pamela Duran was a recipient of the Arthur Ashe Jr. Leadership and Sportsmanship award last May.
Clark was one of 12 players who received the honor. The award is given to female collegiate tennis players that display commitment to their team, which has enhanced the team's performance and exemplified the spirit of college tennis. The 12 regional award winners move on as finalists for the national award that be announced at the NCAA Championship finals.
