Charlotte Rolls To Thursday Win Over Richmond

UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND - Charlotte clinched the Atlantic 10 regular-season title by taking the first game of a weekend series from Richmond, 11-1, Thursday at Pitt Field. Cameron Brown had two hits and drove in the Spiders' lone run.
Brown finished two-for-four and drove in Richmond's run in the first inning with a single that knotted the score at 1-1. The senior had two of Richmond's five hits as Charlotte starter Corey Roberts improved to 6-2 with an eight-strikeout, four-hit gem over seven innings.
The 49ers, who scored six times in the final two innings, clinched the outright A-10 title with the victory and improved to 36-14 overall, 19-6 in league play. Richmond slipped to 23-27, 9-16.
Robert was aided by Shane Brown's four-for-five day at the dish, which include three doubles, four RBI and three runs.
Richmond starter Anthony Cafagna allowed three earned runs with two strikeouts over five innings and was tagged the loss (1-5).
The series continues Friday at Pitt Field with first-pitch scheduled for 3 p.m.
