UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND - The University of Richmond has announced home game times for the 2010 football season - the Spiders' inaugural campaign at Robin Stadium, which brings Richmond Football on campus for the first time in eight decades. Including the home-opener versus Elon September 18th, three games start at 1 p.m., two games at 3:30 p.m. and one at 2 p.m.
The two 3:30 p.m. starts had previously been announced and are CAA Football games versus Delaware (Sept. 25) and James Madison (Nov. 6) as part of the league's extensive television package. The 1 p.m. games are versus Elon (Sept. 18th), Coastal Carolina (Oct. 2) and Towson (Oct. 23). The Rhode Island game (Nov. 13) kicks off at 2 p.m. to accommodate the running of the Richmond Marathon that morning.
The annual Homecoming Weekend is planned for Oct. 23 vs. Towson, while Family Weekend is Sept. 25 vs. Delaware.
Elon is slated as the first-ever Robins Stadium foe on Saturday, Sept. 18, 2010 - a team that Richmond defeated 16-13 in the NCAA First Round at UR Stadium in 2009. The Spiders have defeated the Phoenix in each of the last two seasons and are 3-0 against them all-time.
A new decade of Richmond Football opens in 2010 -- the 128th campaign in program history -- with the Spiders' coming off the team's most-successful 10-year span ever. Richmond won 58 percent of its games between 2000 and 2009 (including a 50-17 mark over the last five years), captured the 2008 National Championship, won conference titles in 2000, 2005, 2007 and 2009 and made NCAA Playoff appearances in 2000, 2005, 2007, 2008, 2009.
Season tickets are on sale to the general public June 1, with single-game sales beginning August 1. For more information, please contact the Robins Center Ticket Office at 1-877-SPIDER-1 or visit RichmondSpiders.com.
