On the heels of a busy Wednesday, the Richmond Spiders were back on the Robins Stadium turf Thursday afternoon for the 17th practice of Training Camp. Tomorrow is the final two-a-day of camp, with a scrimmage set for Saturday.
The Spiders are once again reminding fans that Saturday's scrimmage is closed to the general public, which is a change from the original open-practice schedule.
Although Thursday's practice started a bit sluggish, the Spiders turned up the tempo and finished strong.
"As a staff, we're trying to make sure we have complete practices," said head coach Latrell Scott. "If that mentality carries over to game day, then we're trying to dig ourselves out of a hole. We have to avoid that."
Freshman WR Ben Edwards turned in another impressive practice, and along with fellow true freshman Wayne Pettus, are continuing to turn heads in Training Camp.
"Another freshman you have to note is Ben (Edwards), and he made some plays today," said Scott. "We have some tremendous talent at receiver in our upperclassmen, but I like that some young guys are stepping up and creating competition there."
The Spiders are back on the field tomorrow at 8:15 a.m. and again under the lights at 7 p.m.
