Women's Lacrosse Welcomes Eight Freshmen To 2011 Roster

UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. -
Head coach Stephy Samaras welcomes eight newcomers to the 2011 roster. Richmond looks to build upon its A-10 regular season title finish.
"What an awesome freshmen class, said head coach Stephy Samaras. "They bring experience, athleticism and speed. We are so excited to get them on board in fall ball and we look forward to our spring season."
Taylor Blazer Defender Berlin, Md.
Blazer was a three-time All Bayside first team selection and captain of her senior squad. Blazer also qualified for the 2009 US Lacrosse Eastern shore team and was a 2009 Academic All-American.

Courtney Campbell Attack Radnor, Penn.
Campbell is an attack that played club lacrosse for SEPA team. Campbell was a All Central League first team and All Delaware County second team selection. Campbell was a member of the three-time PIAA state champion team.

Mary Hudson Midfield Berlin, Md.
Hudson is a midfielder that played club lacrosse for Green Turtle team. Hudson was a two-time All Conference first team selection and a two-time Baysides first team selection. Hudson played for the Eastern Shore Division National Tournament team and was a two-time Academic All-American.

Amanda Johnston Attack Street, Md.
Johnston is an attack that played club lacrosse for Ravens team. Johnston was a two-time All Delaware All Conference selection and a 2010 Academic All-American. Johnston was a member of two-time DIAA runner-up state champion team.

Sarah Kramer Midfield Riverside, Conn.
Kramer was a two-time All FCIAC and All Sate first team selections. Kramer was a team captain that was named Greewich High School Female Athlete of the Year.

Megan Mullan Goalkeeper White Hall, Md.
Mullan was a four-year starter and captain of her senior squad. Mullan was a member of the IAAM B conference champion team in 2007 and conference and tournament champion in 2008.

Hayley Ross Midfield Annapolis, Md.
Ross was a four-year letter winner and a two-time All-Anne Arundel County Capital first team selection. Ross was a captain of her high school squad her junior and senior years and won two International Draw titles for her club CCLax team.

Allie Ware Attack Alpharetta, Ga.
Ware was two-time GHSA All-State first team selection and a two-time All-American first team pick. Ware was also a two-time team captain and a 2010 Academic All-American. Ware was a two-time Offensive Player of the Year and a 2009 Georgia National team member.

2011 At a Glance:
The Spiders return four All Conference selections in Gabi Wiegand.
Flowers was named the 2010 A-10 Midfielder of the Year after scoring 55 goals, which ranked third on Richmond's single-season scoring list. Flowers was also named to the VaSID first team and was a Women'sLacrosse.com third team All-American.
Wiegand returns as Richmond's second-leading scorer after being named to the A-10 second team and All Rookie teams last season. Wiegand recorded 49 goals and 13 assists in her true freshman campaign and was named Women'sLacrosse.com All Rookie selection.
The Spiders open its 2011 season at Robins Stadium Feb. 13 against defending national champion, Maryland at 2:30 p.m.
