WILLIAMSBURG, Va. -
The Richmond women's soccer team battled No. 16 William & Mary the entire game, but fell 1-0 Sunday afternoon at Albert Daly Field in Williamsburg, Va.
Richmond came out the aggressor, notching two shots within the first five minutes. The Spiders continued to pressure William & Mary for much of the first half until the Tribe got the break they needed.
William & Mary's Audrey Berry took a feed from a Tribe back and dribbled the entire length of the field to score unassisted at the 30 minute mark to give the game its only score.
Six different Spiders recorded a shot.
After collecting one save in the first frame, Richmond's Andrea Young put on an impressive second-half performance turning away five Tribe shots, many of which were one-versus-one situations.
Richmond returns to Ukrop Park hosting American next Friday for the first of six straight home games. Game time is set for 7 p.m.
