UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND - Mylon Blueford has become the first official member of Richmond's incoming football class, graduating from high school early and enrolling at the University of Richmond at the semester break. Blueford is a Chesapeake, Va. native.
The 5-foot-10 Blueford played wide receiver, defensive back and returned kicks and punts for Oscar Smith High School. He was a three-year letterman on the gridiron and was a Second Team All-District pick at defensive back. He also lettered four years in track.
A standout in the classroom as well, Blueford has garnered academic recognition from the school board and is a National Honor Society member.
Blueford's father Morris played football at Virginia Tech from 1972-75 and his brother Morris, Jr. is currently a football player at Temple.
Unlike the remainder of the Spiders' incoming class that will be announced on National Signing Day (Feb. 2) and that will enroll at the University in August, a mid-year enrollee -- like Blueford -- is currently in class and is allowed to participate in the team's spring practice.
As any other freshmen, Blueford has five years to complete four seasons of eligibility.
Blueford is rated by rivals.com as a two-star prospect, and joins Georgia Tech transfer Cooper Taylor as the newest additions to head coach Latrell Scott's roster.
