Geriot And Harper Lead Spiders To Rout Of UMass

AMHERST, Mass. - Dan Geriot scored a season-high 24 points, while Justin Harper passed 20 points for the fifth-straight game as Richmond cruised at UMass 84-68.
Richmond improved to 15-5 overall and 4-1 in the Atlantic 10, both one game improvements over the Spiders record through 20 games last season. The Spiders have now won 11 of the last 13 Atlantic 10 road games and have won five-straight road games this season.
Geriot made 8-of-12 field goals, including 4-of-7 three-pointers and dished out four assists as he scored in double-figures for the eighth time this season.
Harper, who had scored 25 points or more in his previous four games and was named the one player to watch by Jay Bilas on ESPN'S College Gameday earlier in the day, scored 21 points, making 8-of-13 field goals, grabbing eight boards, blocking two shots and swiping two steals.
Harper is now averaging 25.6 points per game through five conference games.
Darien Brothers scored a career-high 17 points, all in the second half, making 5-of-7 field goals and 3-of-5 three-pointers, along with dishing out five assists.
Kevin Smith scored a season-high 11 points, making 5-of-6 field goals, dished out five assists and grabbed four rebounds. Smith has 16 assists in the last two games.
Richmond led by nine in the closing minutes of the first half before Anthony Gurley made one of his six three-pointers to beat the halftime buzzer and cut the gap to 33-27.
The Spiders opened the second half scoring on the first eight possessions to take a 52-33 lead with 15:52 left and the lead would peak at 23 points with 6:39 to play. Thirteen of Richmond's 15 victories have come by double-figures, including all four conference wins.
Richmond heads to Dayton on Tuesday to take on the Flyers at 7 p.m. in a game televised nationally on ESPNU.
