Anderson's 26 Lead Spiders To Best A-10 Start With Win At Dayton

UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. - Kevin Anderson scored 26 points, Justin Harper had 14 points and 11 rebounds and Dan Geriot scored 13 as Richmond (16-5, 5-1 A10) won defeated Dayton at UD Arena for the first time, 70-61 in a game televised nationally on ESPNU.
Anderson made 10-of-18 field goals, including 4-of-6 three-pointers as the Spiders got off to their best Atlantic 10 start in 10 years as a member of the conference. The Spiders have won five-straight on the road and 12 of the last 14 Atlantic 10 road games. Richmond has as many wins away from the Robins Center this season as they do at home.
Anderson is one three-pointer from tying Jeff Myers on Richmond's all-time career list.
Harper had 14 points and grabbed 11 rebounds for his fourth double-double in the last eight games. He moved into 25th on Richmond's all-time scoring list with 1,151 career points.
Geriot made 2-of-3 three-pointers and completed a key old-fashioned three-point play after Dayton took its only lead of the game with 16:25 to play.
Darien Brothers had eight points and four rebounds, while Francis Martel had four points and Darrius Garrett had three points, coming on a monster And-1 dunk, and grabbed eight rebounds.
Kevin Smith had five assists, giving hime 21 assists in the last three games.
The Spiders held Dayton to 34.4 percent shooting, the seventh time this season Richmond has held the opposition to under 35 percent shooting.
The Spiders return home to host Xavier on Saturday at noon in a game televised nationally on ESPN2. Saturday's game will be a RED OUT and tickets are still available for the game.
