Monster Game At Foul Line Pulls Xavier Away From Richmond

UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. - Richmond trailed 42-40 with under 16 minutes to play, but Xavier pulled away aided by a monster game at the free throw line to take an 85-62 victory in front of 8,514 fans at the Robins Center Saturday.
Xavier made 29-of-30 free throws, including 20-of-20 in the second half to improve to 15-5 overall and 7-0 in the Atlantic 10. Tu Halloway scored a career-high 33 points, making a Robins Center opponent record 17-of-17 free throws, more foul shots than the Spiders took (10-of-16).
Justin Harper scored 20 points to lead the Spiders, making 7-of-10 field goals as he reached 20 points for the sixth time in seven conference games. Dan Geriot had 15 points, Darien Brothers had 14 and Kevin Anderson had 10.
The Spider trailed by 11 with 8:58 to play, but Xavier pushed the lead to 17 in the next 1:35 and Xavier's largest lead was the final outcome.
Richmond (16-6, 5-2 Atlantic 10) hosts Saint Joseph's on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
