The Players:
Shells' game-high 22 tallies was the 31st 20 pt game of her career, second in a row, 91st double figure contest and 12th of the season.
Shells is just eight tallies shy of sole possession of third place on Richmond's all-time scoring list.
Crystal Goring's 12 point, nine board performance was one rebound shy of her second double-double of the season. Goring is averaging 8.7 and 9.8 ppg.
Abby Oliver scored in double figures for the 31st time in her career, eighth of the season with 15 tallies.
The Team:
The loss snapped Richmond's five-game win streak, its longest since Dec. 30, 2009- Jan. 19, 2010.
The loss snapped Richmond's spotless mark over Commonwealth opponents (previously 5-0) and undefeated mark over ACC foes the past two seasons (4-0).
Richmond fell to 3-12 in the series with the Cavaliers and have dropped two straight in the series.
Head coach Michael Shafer moved to 1-2 against UVA.
