PITTSBURGH, Pa. --Richmond was edged, 1-0, Friday night in Pittsburgh, Pa. in its conference opener.
The Dukes put through the game's only score in the 80th minute after a cross pass from the left side went into the goal.
"Duquesne played a really good game," said head coach Peter Albright. "We had a lot of chances in the second half, we just couldn't convert. Overall, it was a solid performance from the Spiders and we're looking forward to Sunday. We had good games from Crystal Koczot and Ashley Williams."
Becca Wann led the Spiders with five shots, and Koczot added two. Richmond outshot Duquesne, 11-6. Both teams had two corners.
Richmond continues road play at St. Bonaventure Sunday at 1 p.m.
