Spiders and Xavier Battle To Scoreless Draw

Richmond took 35 shots, but battled Xavier to a scoreless draw, 0-0, in double overtime Friday night at Robins Stadium.
The Spiders (9-4-3, 3-1-1) dominated offensively, recording a season-high 35 shots against the Musketeer's 17 tries. Becca Wann had 11 shots, while Crystal Koczot followed with nine. Richmond outshot Xavier, 14-5 in the first frame and 13-5 in the second half. Richmond had three shots in the first overtime and five in the second.
Xavier goalkeeper Katie Markesbery recorded 15 saves and thwarted many Richmond attempts to put a goal through late in the game. Melissa Pacheco had six saves for the Spiders.
Richmond returns to action Sunday when it hosts No. 21 Dayton at 1 p.m. at Robins Stadium.
