Spiders Edged At Temple
10/15/2011 | Field Hockey
PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - Rebecca Barry scored her seventh goal of the season and fourth in the last two games, but Richmond was edged by Temple 2-1 Friday.
Barry's goal came 10 minutes into the second half on an assist from junior Liesl Schnuck. That tied the game at 1-1, but Temple's Caryn Lambright scored with 6:19 remaining and the Owls held on for the win.
"Our game with Temple is always a battle," Richmond head coach Gina Lucido said. "Temple fought fiercely and made things happen in the attacking circle to secure a vital conference win. I think this setback will show if we are worth our words in bringing the championship home or not. Our Sunday game against Lock Haven is our chance to rise up."
The Spiders host Lock Haven on Sunday at 1 p.m. at Crenshaw Field.
