UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. - Senior Katelin Peterson moved into fourth on Richmond's all-time goals list as Richmond defeated Radford 1-0 in a non-conference game at Crenshaw Field on Sunday.
Peterson scored the game's only goal 19:25 into the match on an assist from junior Liesl Schnuck.
The goal was the 42nd of her career, which moved her past Amy Ottavinia (1994-97) and into fourth on Richmond's all-time career list for goals. Peterson had already moved into fourth on the Spiders' all-time list for points last week. She now has 108 career points and is tied for fourth in career assists with 24.
"Today was a needed step in proving our ability to play against all uncontrollable variables that set the tone of the game," Richmond head coach Gina Lucido said. "We were able to rise up and secure a shutout with poise against a gritty and athletic Radford team."
Schuck's assist was her fourth this season and the sixth of her career.
Sophomore goalkeeper Anna Zarkoski made five saves for her third shutout of the season and the fifth of her career.
Richmond (11-6, 3-1) plays at Massachusetts on Friday before hosting La Salle in the regular season finale next Sunday.
In order to win a conference title, we need confidence that we can get the result in any type of setting," Lucido said. "Our preparation continues as a huge A-10 weekend lies ahead.
