12/01/2011 | Women's Swimming & Diving
UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. - University of Richmond swim coach Matt Barany has announced the dates for two separate spring swim clinics set to begin in January. Both the 12-week Spring Stroke Clinic and the new two-week Starts and Turns Clinic are not designed as basic swim lessons and will be held in the Spiders' Robins Center Pool on campus.
The traditional Spring Swim Stroke Clinic is open to anyone ages six and above (as of Jan. 29, 2012) and is geared specifically towards the improvement of the four competitive strokes, racing starts and turns. The 12-week clinic will be held on Sundays beginning on January 29, 2012, and feature three age-specific time slots. Each hour session has 50 available slots. Availability is provided on a "first come, first serve" basis.
New to the Richmond Swim Clinic series in 2012 will be a two-week Starts and Turns Clinic. The clinic will be geared solely towards the racing starts and turns of the four competitive strokes. This clinic, which is independent of the aforementioned 12-week Swim Clinic, is open to anyone ages 12 and above (as of Jan. 15, 2012). The two-week clinic will be held on Jan. 15 and Jan. 22, 2012 from 3-4:30 p.m. There will be 30 available slots, which will be offered on a "first come, first serve" basis.
Space is limited in both clinics, so those interested are encouraged to reserve and register early. For more information on the clinics, including the associated costs, please view the attached flyers for both clinics.
To register for the clinics, please email the designated information on the flyers to assistant swim coach Travis Stensby (tstensby@richmond.edu). Registration for both camps begins on Thursday, Dec. 1, 2011.
