Women's Lacrosse Edged By Tribe

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. -
Richmond was edged by William & Mary, 18-13, Sunday afternoon at the Albert-Daly Field at Martin Family Stadium in Williamsburg, Va.
The Tribe started the game with three unanswered goals in the first four minutes, but Richmond answered with a Kara Moschetti free position to slash the lead. William & Mary scored two more in a row to make the score 5-1 but Richmond came roaring back.
The Spiders scored five consecutive goals, two of which came from Moschetti, to take a 6-5 lead with 10:11 left in the first half. But the Tribe answered mightily with a five unaswered goal attack of its own to take a 10-6 lead. Richmond outscored the Tribe 3-1 to close the half to slash the deficit to a William & Mary 11-9 lead at the break.
The Tribe scored the last frames' first two goals, but Richmond answered with a Mary Flowers unassisted tally to cut the lead to 13-10. Richmond and the Tribe traded goals to close the game and the Spiders got to within 16-13 with seven minutes left, but two more William & Mary scores would ice the game.
The Tribe's Grace Golden recorded a career-best and single game school record with eight goals.
Flowers followed Moschetti with a hat trick. Flowers, Moschetti and Tara Coyle all had assists.
Richmond won ground balls, 26-23, with Sam Stevenson recording a team-high five ground balls. Defender Taylor Blazer led Richmond with four caused turnovers.
Richmond hosts American Wednesday at Robins Stadium at 4:00 p.m.
