JACKSONVILLE, Fl. -
Redshirt-seniors Matt Llano and Jon Wilson finished in the top 50 at the USATF 15K National Championships in Jacksonville, Fl. yesterday.
"It was great for Matt and Jon compete against our nations best," said men's head coach Steve Taylor. "Both were moving up in distance since the 10K is the longest event within the NCAA and both handled it exceptionally well. That shows their strength is really good right now going into the outdoor season."
Matt Llano finished 23rd overall and third in his class with a time of 45:12. Jon Wilson came in 41st (ninth in his class) with a time of 47:16.
A total of 14,972 runners participated in the 34th annual Gate River Run; 7,374 were male. It is the largest 15K in the country.
"The field was really strong and they got in there and mixed it up in the front," said Taylor. "They are looking forward to the outdoor season now."
