Spiders Host Duquesne In First Night Game Of Season Friday

The Richmond women's lacrosse team opens Atlantic 10 play with Duquesne Friday night at 7:00 p.m. at Robins Stadium.
Last Time Out: Towson rallied from a 8-2 halftime deficit to down the Spiders in overtime, 11-10 Mar. 19 at Robins Stadium. Sam Stevenson led Richmond with four goals, while Danielle Schaevitz recorded a hat trick. Mary Flowers dished a team-high three assists. Victoria Roebuck had 11 saves and Richmond picked up a game-best 25 ground balls.
Richmond Lately: Flowers continues to lead the Spiders in every statistical category: goals (31), assists (14), points (45), shots (50), ground balls (50), draw controls (33) and caused turnovers. Flowers' 31 tallies leads the A-10 and is 13th in the nation in scoring. Flowers is the nation's leader in ground balls per game with five and leads all Division I with 50 on the season. Roebuck is 12th in the nation in saves (92).
Duquesne Lately: The Dukes own the second-best overall record in the A-10 with a 6-3 mark. Duquesne has won five of its last six games and is led by Katie Rekart and Meredith Dunn's 22 tallies. The Dukes own a 3-1 road record and had two players garner All Conference weekly nods. Goalkeeper Liz Walker recorded a career-high 12 saves in a 15-9 win over Bucknell. Caitlin Prince scored a career-high six goals, including the game-winner, in the win over Bucknell.
Last Time Vs. The Dukes: Richmond cruised to a 17-10 victory over the Dukes Apr. 16 in Pittsburgh. The Spiders were led by Flowers and Gabi Wiegand's four goals. Richmond recorded a season-high 38 shots in the victory. The Spiders are 8-2 all-time versus Duquesne.
Up Next: The Spiders remain at home with St. Bonaventure Sunday at noon at Robins Stadium. Friends of Jaclyn adoptee Katie Schools will be honored before the game.
