UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. -
Richmond (8-8, 5-1) concludes regular season play at GW Friday at 4:00 p.m. The Spiders have secured a spot in next week's A-10 Tournament to be held at Geasey Field on the Temple campus in Philadelphia, Pa.
Last Time Out: Richmond had its five game win-streak snapped when No. 15 Massachusetts defeated the Spiders, 14-4, Sunday afternoon in Amherst. Caitlin Fifield led Richmond with two goals.
Richmond Lately: Richmond is 5-1 in conference action and has won five of its last six contests. Mary Flowers continues to lead the Spiders in every statistical category: goals (34), assists (20), points (54), ground balls (57) and draw controls (52). Fifield, last week's A-10 Player of the Week, has come on strong as of late, leading Richmond in scoring its past two games, and recording a hat trick in four of her last five games.
GW Lately: The Colonials are fighting for the last spot in the A-10 Tournament, as they are deadlocked in a three-way tie for fourth place with Duquesne and St. Bonaventure. GW beat Saint Joe's 9-3 last Sunday and was led by Megan Siedman's hat trick. The Colonials are led by Mia Breheny's 30 tallies. Sarah Phillips leads GW with 55 points, thanks to 30 goals and 25 assists on the season.
Last Time Vs. The Colonials: Richmond cruised past GW, 17-6, last April at UR Stadium and was led by Gabi Wiegand's then-career best six goals. The 17 goals scored was a season-high for the Spiders.
Up Next: Richmond will compete in the 2011 Atlantic 10 Tournament on Temple's campus Friday afternoon at Geasey Field in Philadelphia, Pa. Game times and pairings will be announced next week.
