Gaskins Highlights Preseason Recognition For Spiders

UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND - Junior FB Kendall Gaskins earned Preseason All-America recognition from both Sports Network and Phil Steele, while six Spiders were picked to Phil Steele's Preseason All-CAA Football team announced by each publication recently.
CAA Football's preseason honors will officially be announced at the league's annual Media Day at M&T Bank Stadium Baltimore on Wednesday. ESPN3 will broadcast CAA Football Media Day Live from 10 a.m. - 12 p.m. Wednesday.
Gaskins was a First Team All-CAA Football pick and a Third Team Sports Network All-America after starting all 11 games at fullback finishing second on the team with 96 carries for 398 yards and five touchdowns. The Burlington, N.J. native also caught 13 passes for 126 yards. Of his 152 career touches (136 rushes, 16 catches), 35 percent have resulted in first downs or touchdowns.
Also on Phil Steele's Preseason All-Conference First Team were senior WR Tre Gray and junior PK Wil Kamin. Steele recognized senior QB Aaron Corp, junior S Cooper Taylor and senior DB Tremayne Graham on the Preseason All-CAA Football Second Team.
Richmond opens its 128th season of football on Saturday, Sept. 3 at Duke. Preseason training camp opens Thursday, Aug. 4.
