Athletic Director Writes Open Letter To Spider Football Fans
08/27/2011 | Football
Dear Spider Fans:
Thank you for supporting the Spiders. Your active involvement at Robins Stadium plays an important role in our football success.
As you know, earlier this week we experienced a change in the leadership of our football program. The decisions made were done so with the best interests of the University community and student-athletes at the forefront.
I want to assure you we are committed to continuing the success and tradition of Spider football that during the last six years has produced a National Championship, six consecutive winning seasons, three conference titles, and four playoff appearances.
Wayne Lineburg is our head coach for the 2011 season. He is an outstanding individual who has been an integral part of our football success. He clearly understands the University of Richmond's commitment to providing our student-athletes with the best possible athletic and academic experiences during their collegiate careers.
Our football coaches and student-athletes, as well as our athletic department staff, are excited and working hard to, as Coach Lineburg said in his introductory press conference, "Carry On." I urge you to give Coach Lineburg and the 2011 Spider Football Team your unprecedented support throughout the season and most notably at the Robins Stadium home opener Saturday, September 10 against Wagner at 6 pm.
Go Spiders!
Jim Miller
Director of Athletics
