Spiders Overpower Western Carolina, 4-1

Three different Spiders scored in a 4-1 victory over Western Carolina Friday in the UNC-W Invitational.
"Erin Layne palyed an outstanding game at midfield," said head coach Peter Albright. She really controlled the tempo and had a strong performance."
Richmond got on the board with a tally from freshman Ashley Williams-the first of her collegiate career-off a Becca Wann assist in the 21st minute. Senior Lindsay Wicher scored unassisted 10 minutes later after lasering a shot into the lower left of the goal.
Wann would add more more before the half after an Emily Dale pass and beat the Catamount keeper to score from close range. Wann would add one more off a header by way of Liza Koch.
Richmond dominated the shots, 15-9, and Melissa Pacheco had two saves in goal. Natalie LeClair led Richmond with four shots.
The Spiders continue action with North Florida at 11 a.m. Sunday morning.
