Spiders Travel To Bonnies In Key A-10 Game

UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. -- Richmond (14-3, 2-1) battles league-leading St. Bonaventure (16-2, 3-0) Wednesday night at 7 p.m. in Olean, N.Y.
The Latest:
- Five Spiders scored in double-figures as Richmond cruised past UMass, 73-54, Saturday afternoon in Amherst, Mass. Richmond recorded its first A-10 road win of the season as it improved to 14-3, 2-1 overall. UMass fell to 6-12, 1-2.
- Richmond won its seventh-straight over UMass and had five players score in double figures for the second time this season. (Five Richmond players scored in double figures in the home-opening win against William & Mary). Abby Oliver, Genevieve Okoro and Rachael Bilney led five Spiders in double figures with a team-high 12 points apiece. Kristina King scored a season-high 11 points, and Sam Bilney notched a season-best 10 tallies. Richmond recorded 21 assists on 29 buckets and shot 8-of-17 from long range. Richmond had 11 steals, led by Becca Wann's four takeaways.
- Richmond comes into Saturday's contest with an 82 percent mark from the foul line, good for second in the nation among Division I schools. Abby Oliver, Rachael Bilney and Genevieve Okoro are shooting 77 percent or better from the line. Oliver's 56-of-60 accuracy (94 percent) ranks first in the country.
- Oliver has amassed 1,240 points in her four-year career ranking her ninth all-time in program history. Oliver leads the Spiders at 16.4 ppg and has led Spider scoring in all but five games this season. Oliver is shooting a team-leading 46 percent from the field (95-205) and 46 percent from long range (32-69). Oliver's 16.4 ppg leads the A-10. Rachael Bilney follows with 12.2 ppg, while Okoro follows with 11.8 ppg. Two-sport athlete Becca Wann contributes 7.0 ppg.
- Bilney is shooting a scorching 36-79 (45.6%) tops in the A-10 and sixth in the country. Bilney poured in a career-high 32 points in the Jan. 11 win over GW and set a school-record with eight treys. Bilney surpassed three Spiders that had sunk seven threes in a game. Bilney's 32 tallies was the most point production from a Richmond player since graduated Brittani Shells scored 34 points in a season-opening win over Western Carolina Nov. 12, 2010.
The Teams:
- Richmond looks to improve to 6-1 in road games this season and 2-0 in A-10 road action when it travels to St. Bonaventure Wednesday. St. Bonaventure hopes to add to its league-leading overall mark (16-2) and conference record (3-0).
- Richmond owns the overall series record 9-4, and took last year's meeting, 56-50 at the Robins Center. Abby Oliver notched the first double-double of her career with 14 points and 12 rebounds in the win. The performance garnered Oliver Player of the Week honors. The past six meetings have been split 3-3 with two of those contests double-overtime games.
• Richmond Lately: Richmond has won two-straight with victories over GW and UMass entering Wednesday's game with the Bonnies. Rachael Bilney scored a career-high 32 points Jan. 11 and set a school-record for threes with eight against the Colonials. Bilney leads the team with 19.0 ppg in her past three conference games. Richmond is tied with Dayton and Temple with a 2-1 mark in A-10 play. Richmond's 14 wins are second-best in the conference. (St. Bonaventure has a conference-high 16 tallies).
• Bona Lately: The Bonnies sit atop the A-10 standings with a 3-0 mark in conference action. The Bonnies are led by Jessica Jenkins' 14.0 ppg. Jenkins is nine three-pointers shy of setting the A-10 record for career long-range shots. Megan Tatenhove follows Jenkins with 12.1 ppg. Tatenhove is a team-leading 49 percent from the field (65-132).
