Jan. 5, 2012: Getting Locked Out and Into the Meet Mindset
We have two days left in Sarasota and are trying to make the most of our remaining time in the sun. This morning the pool was so foggy we couldn't even see the clock. Nevertheless, we swam through the fog and had a good morning long course practice.
We were back to the pool this evening and had a bit of a shaky start. Matt read the practice to us at a million miles per minute, which led to a lot of confusion during the warm-up. We worked together, though, and figured out what we were doing. Most of us then proceeded to do forty 50s IM with the exception of Lexi and Mali. Mali did the 50s breaststroke while Lex did her own distance set. Overall, we had a very successful afternoon.
We had another minor crisis when we returned to the condo and realized that none of us remembered to get the key from Carinne at the pool. This meant we were locked out. Fortunately, the senior member of our group, Jill, used her wisdom and we were able to obtain a key from the front desk.
Jill and the rest of the seniors went to dinner with Matt, so that left Carinne, Allison, Alaina and I to enjoy dinner together. Chef Callison whipped together some delicious baked spaghetti that we enjoyed while watching the sunset. This was the first time Allison and Alaina got to experience Wallace at her finest. We all got a little silly at dinner before we trotted over to the clubhouse for a team meeting.
At the meeting, we discussed the little meet we will be having with Rhode Island tomorrow. Matt also encouraged us to let people know if we've enjoyed getting to know them better over the course of this trip. Condo mates, you are probably regretting that you now know me so well, but I would like to go ahead and let you know that our time together has been sacred. I will forever cherish the times that Dougie, Callison, Bernadette, Lucretia and Wallace have had together.
Tomorrow we take on Rhode Island and will hopefully have a lot of fun in the process. I'm especially excited because I have a good friend from home on the Rhode Island team. Let's go Spiders!
