10/25/2012 | Cross Country
UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. - The University of Richmond men's and women's Spider cross country teams will head to Philadelphia on Saturday to run in the 2012 Atlantic 10 Cross Country Championships.
The Course
The 2012 Atlantic 10 Championships will be hosted by Temple
at the Belmont Plateau at Fairmont Park in Philadelphia. The 2012 Championships mark the 35th annual
conference men's meet and the 24th annual racing of the women's championship.
Richmond has competed in the event every year since joining the Atlantic 10
Conference in 2001.
The Spider Men
The Richmond men's cross country team will be looking for
its second Atlantic 10 Championship in the last three years on Saturday. After claiming the title in 2010, the Spiders
placed seventh at last year's conference championship in suburban
Charlotte.
The Spider Women
After becoming the first-ever top female finisher in school
history last season, Jill Prentice will look to defend her individual title
this year. Prentice, who had the
second-best championship performance in conference history last season, will
look to help the Spider women's team claim their third team championship in the
last five years. Last year, Richmond
placed three runners in the top-20 on its way to a fourth place finish.
